Introduction

Stainless steel pressure water tanks, also known as water storage tanks, thermal storage tanks, or heat storage tanks, are core pressure-bearing water storage devices widely used in residential hot water systems, industrial water supply systems, heating and air conditioning systems, and fire protection water supply systems.

We supply two types of pressure water tanks: stainless steel pressure water tanks and carbon steel/stainless steel pressure water tanks (manufactured using a carbon steel shell with a stainless steel lining). We offer a full range of specifications and support customization. Please feel free to contact us for more details.

Working Principle

The core operating principle of a stainless steel pressure water tank is based on the compressibility of gas and the principle of hydrostatic pressure equilibrium. The tank features a fully sealed structure with a dedicated gas chamber inside (or a gas-water separation achieved via a bladder). During normal water supply, external pipeline pressure forces water into the tank, compressing the gas at the top until the gas pressure balances with the incoming water pressure. When users draw water or system pressure drops, the compressed gas naturally expands, displacing water from the tank to replenish the pipeline network and maintain stable pressure.

The exterior of the tank is typically equipped with an electric contact pressure gauge or a pressure switch. When the pressure drops to the preset lower limit, the makeup pump automatically starts to fill the tank; when the pressure returns to the upper limit, the pump stops. If system pressure rises abnormally, the relief valve automatically opens to release excess pressure, preventing pipeline damage. This closed-loop control mechanism enables the pressurized water tank to provide both stable water supply and a certain amount of emergency water storage capacity, completely replacing the function of traditional elevated water tanks.

Structural Components

Tank Body

Features a cylindrical welded structure with an elliptical or flat bottom head and a maintenance manhole at the top. Material options include all-304 stainless steel or carbon steel lined with stainless steel, ensuring both structural strength and water purity.

Gas Chamber and Isolation Device

  • Blashed Type: A butyl rubber or EPDM bladder is installed inside the tank to completely isolate the gas and water; the space outside the bladder is pre-filled with nitrogen.
  • Gas-Water Contact Type: No bladder is used; instead, a reserved air chamber at the top of the tank is utilized. This type is suitable for applications where water quality requirements are not extremely stringent.

Inlet, Outlet, and Vent Connections

  • The inlet (bottom) connects to a pump or the water supply network.
  • The outlet (top) connects to the user’s piping system.
  • An automatic air vent is installed at the top to release dissolved gases from the water.

Pressure Control and Safety Accessories

  • Electrical contact pressure gauge (controls pump start/stop).
  • Safety relief valve (overpressure protection).
  • Bottom drain port (for periodic removal of sediment).
  • Level gauge (optional, for observing the water-air interface).

Insulation and Protective Casing (Optional)

The tank is externally coated with a polyurethane foam insulation layer and covered with a stainless steel protective shell, suitable for hot water or HVAC systems to reduce heat loss.

Our Product Advantages

  1. Reliable Sealing: The fully enclosed design effectively prevents the intrusion of insects, dust, and harmful gases; the stainless steel lining or all-stainless-steel construction eliminates rust contamination, making it particularly suitable for potable water systems.
  2. Excellent Pressure Stabilization: Through the expansion and compression of the air chamber, it automatically absorbs pressure fluctuations in the piping system, eliminating water hammer and noise, and extending the service life of pipes and valves.
  3. Space-saving: Eliminates the need for elevated water tanks or water towers; can be flexibly installed in basements, equipment rooms, or outdoors, reducing building loads and structural costs.
  4. Automated operation with no need for dedicated supervision: Works with an electric contact pressure gauge to automatically start and stop the pump, and features multiple protection functions such as low-level and overpressure protection.
  5. Highly adaptable and customizable: Volume, pressure rating, connection types, and insulation requirements can all be customized to meet specific needs, catering to a wide range of applications including chemical processing, food processing, residential, and hospitality settings.

Applications of Stainless Steel Pressure Water Tanks

  • Domestic Water Storage and Supply: Secondary water supply systems for residential communities, villas, hotels, schools, and other facilities requiring a constant water pressure and contamination-free supply.
  • Industrial Water Storage and Process Water: Buffer storage for production water in industries such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and electronics, where stable water quality and pressurized delivery are required.
  • Food Industry Water Storage: Buffering of purified or desalinated water in production lines for dairy, beverages, brewing, and similar applications; SUS304/316L materials meet food-grade hygiene requirements.
  • HVAC and Hot Water Systems: Functioning as closed expansion tanks or thermal storage tanks, these systems accommodate the volumetric expansion of hot water, stabilize system pressure, and assist heat pumps or boilers in heat storage.
  • Fire Protection Pressure Stabilization Systems: Working in conjunction with other fire protection equipment, these systems maintain constant pressure in fire protection piping networks to ensure rapid response during emergencies.
