Can 201 stainless steel be used for edible oil storage tanks?

It is not recommended. 201 stainless steel has poor corrosion resistance and is prone to rusting when in prolonged contact with oil, making it non-compliant with food contact material safety standards. For edible oil storage, you must use 304 or 316L food-grade stainless steel.

Is a cleaning system required?

For large-capacity storage tanks, we recommend installing a CIP (Clean-in-Place) automatic spray cleaning system. This ensures thorough and efficient cleaning of the tank interior, prevents oxidation and spoilage of residual oils, and significantly reduces manual cleaning costs.
