
Vertical Colloid Mill

Introduction
The vertical colloid mill is a wet ultra-fine grinding device primarily used for homogenizing, emulsifying, and grinding materials. Except for the motor and some components, all parts in contact with the material are made of stainless steel (such as 304/316L) to ensure corrosion resistance and cleanliness.

Working Principle
Materials enter the grinding chamber through the feed hopper and are subjected to intense shearing, compression, grinding, and impact in the narrow gap (typically 0.01–1 mm) between the high-speed rotating moving grinding disc (rotor) and the stationary grinding disc (stator), causing particles to break, emulsify, or homogenize. After one or more cycles, the materials reach the desired fineness and are discharged through the outlet.

Functions of Each Structural Component
- Base: Supports the entire machine, reduces vibration, and ensures stability.
- Motor: Provides grinding power.
- Main shaft bearing: Supports high-speed rotation of the main shaft and reduces friction.
- Moving Grinding Disc: Rotates at high speed to generate shear force and crush the material.
- Stationary Grinding Disc: Forms a shear gap with the moving grinding disc and is fixed to the machine body.
- Rotating Blade: Pre-cuts large particles to prevent blockages.
- Adjustment Disc: Precisely controls the gap between the moving and stationary grinding discs.
- Positioning Screw: Secures the adjusted grinding disc position to prevent displacement.
- Handle: Manual component for adjusting the gap.
- Sealing Assembly: Prevents material leakage and maintains pressure.
- Cooling Channel: Lowers the grinding chamber temperature to protect heat-sensitive materials.
- Cooling Water Pipe Connector: Connects to an external cooling water system.

Vertical Colloid Mill Disassembly Steps

- Unscrew the funnel counterclockwise.
- Rotate the grinding disc handle counterclockwise to loosen the stationary grinding disc.
- Pull the stationary grinding disc upward.
- Unscrew the V-shaped feed blade counterclockwise.
- Use screws to secure and pull out the moving grinding disc.
- Installation method: reverse the disassembly steps in the opposite order.
